Chai the little elephant follows a wonderful smell across the savanna and finds a tree heavy with golden mangoes. He wants every single one. But the fruit hangs far too high, his friend Pip is too light to push one down, and getting cross only makes his tummy rumble louder.
Then wise Grandma Elephant walks by. She picks the most beautiful mango of all and simply gives it away. Chai is astonished. Little by little, with the meerkats and a cheeky monkey looking on, he finds out why.
